This is an October 1995 photograph on St. Charles Street to the northeast of Jackson Square in the French Quarters of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. On the right of the photo is The Cabildo state museum on the corner of St. Charles Street and St. Peter Street. Seated on the bench with Jackson Square to his back is a guitar player exuberantly singing and playing with hopes passing pedestrians will deposit donations into his open guitar case. What caused me to trip the shutter at this moment was that only the Retriever-looking dog in the middle of photo appeared to be paying attention to the passionate aria of the performer. As suggested by this photo, life as an inspired street artist sometimes appears to be a lonely, isolationistic endeavor.
