The River Derwent on its journey from Sprinkling Tarn in England's Lake District to the Irish Sea at Workington, Cumbria. On its way it flows through Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake before reaching the town of Cockermouth in Cumbria just north of the Lake District National Park. Here the poet Wordsworth was brought up, his love of this river flowing behind his house being reflected in his poetry. In this view upriver is the Gote Road Bridge carrying the road into the town centre.
