A gentle light peeks through the trees to softly color the remains of what was once a farmhouse. The fields lie barren, no longer planted with crops. Only the leaves from the trees and climbing ivy lend green color to what was once a part of acres of living plants - crops to harvest for the family and to sell at market. Alfalfa, corn, cotton perhaps? There is no way to know for sure, for nothing remains but the earth, enhanced only by nature.
................................................Perhaps a dry spell squeezed the life from the fields and the weeds choked out the crops that were to be the family's sustenance. Maybe they were forced to close up the tin-roofed house and move on. No crops. No income. No life here anymore. Who knows why the land provides one year and not the next ........................................... Still, it is a memory of better times and better days - a time when the labor brought forth harvest. Just remembering stirs up the pride of a hard-working man and his family.
................................................This photograph is reminiscent of those days and is simply beautiful. The image that you see is just as it appeared to me - untouched and unaltered. The natural light was perfect for the capture the "old-fashioned way" - just me and my camera.
