David Bishop

I was born on the 17th February 1951 in Norwich Norfolk. I disliked school and left at the age of 15 with no qualifications. For a great part of my life I have been in the Retail/Wholesale sector, finally running a retail business with my wife. It was during this time in 2004, that my family asked me what I would like for Christmas. After some thought I asked for some Art Materials and it was not long before I was hooked. After about a year I decided I needed to improve my painting skills and took an open college course with Cheltenham Art College. Around 2007 my wife and family persuaded me to exhibit my work in a local area exhibition. To my, surprise and delight I sold 2 paintings. Since this time I have exhibited my work around Norfolk and Suffolk. I have been lucky enough to have sold my work in this country and America.
I have never really liked painting outside, I have always proffered to paint in my studio at home. This being so, I would go out and take photographs of a subject, landscapes etc. which I would later use for my painting. Over the last year or two I have found that I have become more and more interested in photography as it offers me more freedom to capture multiple image of a subject in a short space of time. This then allows me look at the images on my computer and decide which ones have work, also allowing me to be creative with editing. While still painting photography has become a much greater part of my life.
