Titus Helmke´s work is influenced by Pop Art, japanese Manga Comics and Modern Realism. His favourite motifs are human faces, large nude portraits painted in acrylic colours and nude drawings. Srongly reduced picture content and realistic style and elaborated details effect a clear and striking composition with a subtle view direction.

His persons have a strong look, the realistic illustration of the eyes make the painted models seem to be alive. The dircect view to the contemplator (us) seem to request an interaction - the contemplator gets contemplated himself. A wordless instant between painting and viewer emerges.

Besides an erotic atmosphere the painted persons always carry real feelings: expectant incertitude, predominant strength, open delight, cool evaluation, relaxed calmness. Thereby the illustrations of the nude person get an indefeasible dignity. We become attracted or disgusted, touched or deranged. In no way we are left cold.
