Eine der ersten Blüten im Jahr ist die des Scharbockskrauts (Ficaria verna, Syn.: Ranunculus ficaria L.) auch als Feigwurz bekannt. Scharbock leitet sich von Skorbut ab, da die Pflanze viel Vitamin C enthält wirkt sie dem Krankheitsbild des Skorbuts entgegen.
