It's an old adage: "God is my co-pilot." But for me, that just isn't enough. God is my PILOT ... period. I've heard people say that God gives them "signs." Not me. I'm too slow to understand, I guess. I need a BILLBOARD; a simple sign won't suffice. So, it's no surprise that I need more than a flashlight when it's time to follow the light. I need LIGHT ... serious light. And this painting is my symbolic journey: the light is engulfing the paddling pilgrim, moving him into the turn. There's no doubt. It's clear. Follow the light. Thanks, God. I needed that.
