Description:

This is a photographic artwork of the first permanent English colony in America, Jamestown, established in 1607. The first year of the settlement was disastrous with many deaths from sickness, battles with Indians and famine. Here are thirty graves within the fort. Many were buried within the fort in an attempt to hide the number of deaths from the Indians. Many of the graves were built over only a few years later.
