Description:

This is the horse gin - a horse would walk around in circles, turning the wooden drum at the top which in turn raised or lowered the men and baskets in and out of the shaft. Now disused but actively preserved lead mine with a history as dark and gloomy as the mine tunnels themselves. I hold a CAA licence for commercial operation of my drone - copy of permit is on my web site.
