„Texas Longhorn“

from the gallery of eloiseart
Description:

The longhorn - focus for Southwestern art, mascot of the University of Texas, and a provider of both beef and milk. The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle known for its characteristic horns, which can extend to 7 feet, tip to tip for steers and exceptional cows, and 36 to 80 inches, tip to tip for bulls. Similar cattle were imported by Spanish colonists into other parts of North America, including California and Florida. The horns can have a slight upward turn at their tips or even triple twist. Texas Longhorns are known for their diverse coloring. A longhorn can be any color or mix of colors but dark red and white color mixes are the most dominant. Due to their innate gentle disposition and intelligence, Texas Longhorns are increasingly being trained as riding steers.
................................................This longhorn has a mix of bright colors that represent the diversity of the breed. The style is clean and semi-abstract, meaning that the figure of the cow is realistic while the colors are not. The sky blue background reminds the viewer of those "wide open spaces" where the cows first roamed.
................................................
This is a wonderful art piece for any lover of the west, the south, or the southwest where longhorns are plentiful, and a wonderful addition to a southwest or western art collection.
