Kita Parnell
Kita Parnell first picked up a pencil at age 3 and hasn’t sat it down yet (actually, I got to eat, so I use forks and spoons as opposed to graphite sticks. Also, I like to use tablets now.) Anyway, Kita has spent her most of life drawing stories, creating paper friends and giggling the night away with her sketch book.
Kita uses a graphics tablet to create most of her illustrations, sketching and penciling primarily before moving on to the digital platform. Whimsical, witty, and smart, lots of color and textures are added to her work to catch the viewer’s eye and keep them engaged. She is encouraged to create diverse and ethnic characters to provide people like her positive and beautiful images of brown, black, yellow and red people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
She is a graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia with a degree in Illustration. Kita also holds a second Associates Degree for Graphic Design from the St Louis Community College in Ferguson, Missouri.
Please see what other awesomeness she and her faithful companions, Monday and Binx, cooks up on her tumblr page:
