Lia Termatzidou was born in Berlin in 1988. She studied Byzantine Iconography and has graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Art Sciences, specializing in Visual Arts. She divides her artistic expression between different mediums: Painting, photography, video and graphics. She participates in several group exhibitions and organizes artistic workshops in collaboration with other artists. Her subjects, mostly anthropocentric, explore the transforming power of the face - and by extension of individuality, and its association with social adaptability. She lives and works in Greece.

‘Keine Kunst ohne Trunkenheit. Dann aber: göttliche Trunkenheit! Die Vernunft möge verschwinden! Rausch! Das höchste Stadium des Rausches! In den brennendsten Wahnsinn getaucht! Viel weiter als je der Alkohol führt! Die Kunst ist die leidenschaftlichste Orgie des Menschen. Kann man Menschen begegnen, die von Kunst ganz nüchtern sprechen und einfach sagen: ‘Ich werde mir gleich ein Bild anschauen‘, ohne mit den Zähnen zu klappern? - als ob es sich nicht um die tiefste und totalste Ausschweifung handle, eine Art Sabbat, wohin man sich wahrscheinlich nicht begibt, ohne daß das Herz beklommen schlägt, wenn man anderen anvertraut: ‘Ich gehe gleich zu einem Zauberer und lasse mich in eine Maus verwandeln.‘

I'm inspired by symbols and metaphors, Aesopian Language, fairy-tales, folk tradition, ornaments, Hieronymus Bosch and European art of his life-time, education, diversity of human capacities and talents, brain explorations, statistics and other data, languages, literature, politics, social issues, and living in different countries.

Grafiker und Fotodesigner.
Interessen: Fotografie, Mythologie, Anthropologie.
Fotografieren ist für mich Entdecken und gleichzeitig Meditation über die Welt. Bevorzugte Motive: Dramatische Landschaftsaufnahmen und Bekanntes aus ungewöhnlichem Blickwinkeln "geschossen".
Was mir immer wieder auffällt: Ein gutes Foto kann fast wie ein Gedicht gelesen werden.
Kamera: zur Zeit Nikon D90.
Wohnort: Bremen.
Alter: Schon ein paar graue Härchen :-)
Geplante Foto-Reise: Westen der USA.

Zwar seit 2005 mit einer DSLR ausgestattet, betreibe ich die Fotografie erst seit 2008 ersthafter. Der Fokus liegt dabei noch auf Architektur- und Landschaftsfotografie sowie Street Art (soweit ohne model release möglich).
Besonders beeindruckt mich die impressionistische Stimmung durch den Einsatz von Bewegungsunschärfe.
