This is an October 1995 photograph of flyers posted on the windows of an abandoned building in the French Quarters of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. I tripped the shutter for this image because I found the collage of posters to be fascinating with references to Friday the 13th and Halloween. Close inspection of the image reveals the following: "Fire on Bourbon at Big Daddy's" (a topless, bottomless bar); "Cafe Instanbul,This is Da Sh_t You Been Waiting for;" "Halloween Parade," including a notation on a tombstone "Call Wayne for more information;" "Smokeup with Buckeyed Forest Punks and Shades of Before;" "Backwash, The all-out mayhem of the Pests" and "The Hynotic Sound of Siren Scream;" "Love 666;" "We ain't superstitious, are you! Hoo Doo Taxi, Fri the 13th at the Legendary Blue Jackal;" and, "Venus Envy, Checkpoint Charlies." Born in the American South and a frequent visitor to New Orleans, this image represented for me an overview synopsis of Pre-Katrina New Orleans. I have not been back to New Orleans since Katrina so I am unsure of the degree to which the image may or may not still represent contemporary New Orleans.
