This is a view from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. In the background asmall small skyline of Chicago can be seen. The preserve was authorized by Congress in 1966. The national lakeshore runs for nearly 25 miles along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, in Beverly Shores, Indiana. Large sand dunes, which have taken thousands of years to form, tower nearly 200 feet above Lake Michigan.
