„The Harbour at Weymouth“

from the gallery of Ian Lewis
Description:

The harbour at Weymouth in Dorset, England. At the mouth of the River Wey, it separates the main town, properly called Melcombe Regis, from Weymouth on the southern side. The two are connected by a bridge - or a rowing boat ferry! Weymouth became popular with tourists after King George III's brother built a grand residence there in the late 1700s and the king himself chose to holiday in the town for 14 successive years. This is reflected in the esplanade's fine Georgian and Regency architecture.
