The picture is a mosaic-like composition of various container terminals in the port of Hamburg. The individual areas of the image are colour-coordinated harmoniously with one another. A slight blurring and softening effect was chosen to give the image a lighter, less technically accurate character. The red area in the lower left third of the image ensures a harmonious image structure. The aim was to create an image with a high degree of abstraction.....Das Bild ist eine mosaikartige Komposition verschiedener Containerterminals im Hamburger Hafen. Die einzelnen Bildbereiche sind farblich harmonisch aufeinander abgestimmt. Ein leichter Verwischungs- und Weichmachereffekt wurde gewählt, um dem Bild einen leichteren, weniger technisch akkuraten Charakter zu geben. Die rote Fläche im unteren, linken Bilddrittel sorgt für einen harmonischen Bildaufbau. Ziel war es, ein Bild mit hohem Abstraktionsgrad zu schaffen.

I have overlaid selected texture and colour layers using different blending modes, adjusted opacity, as well as masking techniques. The work's colourfulness and clear structure make it an invigorating element in any interior, especially where maritime character is desired. I live on the North Sea coast, so my focus on maritime motifs is obvious. My aim in general - as in this work of art - is to create pictorial compositions that have a painterly, abstract feel - beyond realistic depictions.
