„Preparing For Henley Royal Regatta“

from the gallery of Ian Lewis
Description:

Looking over from the moorings on the Henley (Oxfordshire) side of the River Thames to the Remenham (Berkshire) side where the crews' tents and grandstands are being erected for Henley's annual Royal Regatta. This prestigious event which attracts rowers and spectators from home and abroad has been ongoing since 1839. The 'Royal' addition to its name came when Prince Albert became patron, a position taken on by all reigning monarchs since then. The Regatta lasts for five days at the start of July.
