Anselm Adams has been his role model concerning fotography for a long time, Matthias P. Bartel, photographer himself, says in his profile. Today ARTFLAKES present his work in our advent calendar.
Born 1961 in Schleswig-Holstein, Bartel startet his education as an photographer in 1986 – long before digital photography more or less revolutionised this profession. On extensive travels through Asia Batel started collecting impressive pictures for his portfolio.
Since 1994 he has been working as a freelance graphic artist in Hamburg and even today prefers working with an analog camera. His work consists of carefully illuminated pictures of landscapes or cities, which receive a kind of dramatic touch by adding or reducing single layers of colour.
