Best of Blogs: Illustration

There are many nice illustrators selling their work via ARTFLAKES by now. But where do we get the inspiration for new artists on our page? Right – on several illustration blogs, among others. Today we want to show you our five favourite ones.

1.Pikaland
The word “Pika” comes from the Japanese language and means bright and happy – thus Pikaland means “land of the bright and happy things”. And this, too, is how Amy defines her page, where she collects illustrations, drawings and prints she stumbled upon on the internet. A digital diary, so to say.

2. Illustration mundo
A community for illustrators from all over the world – that is illustration mundo. But besides the database filled to the brim with names, where clients can look for their favourite artists, there is a blog as well. Here new people are presented regularly – which is worth a visit!

3. Grain edit
This page with the strange name grain edit is kind of a reservoir for illustrators of all kinds. Artists from the 1960s are featured as well as “fresh meat” from the scene, and there are interesting interviews and reviews as well.

4. Book by its cover
Like the name may betray, at Book by its cover it’s all about – right! – book cover and all those drawings and illustrations on them. Here you really can spend hours browsing through book reviews, because we guarantee that you will find something nice on every page.

5. Illustration Friday
It won’t get boring here: Every Friday the people behind Illustration Friday post a topic, and all illustrators attending have to create a matching drawing. Every week an artwork is chosen and featured on the blog as well.
